How to, finally, stop procrastinating
Finally, your long awaited post, that literally everybody actually needs! Stopping procrastinating. I wish we could avoid homework and other assignments, but eventually it needs to be done. But how? Well, you need to (unfortunately) make doing homework one of your habits. Here are a few tips on how to get there!
1. Make to-do lists
Making to-do lists gives you an overview of what you need to do and what you have done already. Besides that it forces you to stay organised, and you can also keep track of what you are doing! Usually, when making lists you end up doing much more than you originally would. However, try not to make certain to-do's time-bound: this could only end up holding you back and distracted instead of working hard.
2. Take breaks
Yes, it might be important to finish that English essay that's due tomorrow, but the only way to truly stay focused, is to also occasionally take breaks. But be careful! Try to keep off Snapchat, Instagram, and Netflix: they make you lose track of time! Instead, maybe try to do some sort of physical activity or snack a little bit... Try to stick to the pattern: 30 minutes of work, 10 minute break.
3. Try to start immediately after you come home
Again, you don't want to lose track of time, nor do you want to get distracted. Drink some water and then try to go to your room, or someplace you are able to focus and start doing your homework. Especially if you still need to do big assignments, starting immediately after you come can help you to stay in the right spirit.
4. Make doing homework fun!
Of course, this can be taken very cynically, but then again: why not? Try to make doing homework fun: listen to your favourite music, do some assignment with a friend of yours, or choose to do the most "fun" activity first to motivate yourself!
5. Give yourself some motivation
Is a new episode of your favourite series airing today? Don't get tempted, but use it as motivation for yourself! Then, if you're done with your homework, you can enjoy this episode much more than you would've when you still needed to do homework and relaxes you a little more.
