How to, instantly, make friends in every situation
Making friends can be challenging sometimes, but there are a few things to make the search easier and get along with anyone a little bit easier...
Ask open-ended questions
Don't wait for your turn to speak; asking open-ended and follow up questions makes you seem interested in their life, which will make them curious about you, too.
Sympathise with them
When someone is upset and you want to calm them down, assure them that you worry about some things as well. For example, when someone's angry, try to speak in and understanding tone and say something like, "You're right to be frustrated."
Tell a joke
New to a friend group? Make a joke and then see who laughs. People who laugh, usually look in the direction of the person they like the most, to see if they are amused, too. This way, you can easily get a feel of who likes who in a group.
Imitate the others' behaviour
If you want to make friends, imitating the others' behaviour or body language makes the other feel comfortable with you. This could enhance the time you spend together and lead to a comfortable relationships.
Compliment the other
Never underestimate the power of words: compliments can make a huge difference. If you like someone's specific trait, compliment them on it beforehand, since they are now assured and are likely to compliment you on something as well.
